Which Fisher??

I've been impressed by all the good press the Fishers have been getting. Those that use them are very loyal and have alot of praise and confidence in their machines.

I am thinking about trying one out. Which of the bunch should I consider with the following:
Experienced user - I have a DFX and an Explorer SE and an MXT.
I like to hunt relics in moderate ground, some very trashy homesteads for coins, and some Florida beaches.
Your advice is appreciated.

Edge. I have used both (C$ and Edge) and found the Edge to be much easier to use. Its truly a "Turn on and go" detector. Its also better around power lines. There's not much difference in depth between the two (at least at the areas I hunt). I just don't have the time to be fooling around with adjustments. Don't be fooled by the size of the control box. This is no toy! Either way you can't loose. Just my 2 Ct's worth and opinions vary!

Both are very good. There is enough difference in the circuits to make the turn on and go Edge "better" than the C$ for some types of hunting. IMO where the C$ really excels is getting the deep copper/silver out of modern trash. Just listen for the high tone and dig, it don't get any easier than that. For field hunting and around old homesteads ect. the Edge is unbeatable at unmasking signals in iron as is the C$. Despite being sold as coin machines they are both sensitive to small low conductors which is a plus for relic hunting. The biggest difference for me is in the audio tones. I find the Edges audio to suit my ear better then the CS which make working iron filled sites, or any type site for that matter, less tiresome.

Jack -

From what I get...a significant differenct between the C$ and Edge are the tones.
I like to look for relics and have a pretty good machine in the MXT for that - I want a good coin machine for around old homesite and trash, iron trash especially.

How does the Edge differ in sounds from the C$ - how would you characterize them?

Thanks -

Well to me the Coinstrikes tones are somewhat indistinguishable. Not entirely as the iron and high tone are very distinct. The others lack in the fundamentals or somthing just enough that they are not clear to me. The Edge tones each have a very distinctive pitch and are not quite as "raspy" so to speak. I'm not a musician so forgive if I used some terms incorrectly.

This was found with my Edge at a local park during a 45 minute lunchtime hunt recently.
