Which fisher 1265X or?

telerobotics

Hello
My son would like a newer machine. He now runs a 1212X. I have always been a Whites user so my son says he cannot have what i have he wants another Fisher. He likes the knobs. He said he does not like the menu's i have. You would think just the other way? My question is i can get a great condition 1265X for $275 or New 1270 for $550. I am not that familiar with Fishers maybe another choice. I have read they are both great. Any help please! My limit is about $650 because my retired neighbor will by the 1212X for $100.

It's hard to recommend a detector like the 1270 to someone without a little more information. For relic type hunting and in the hands of someone use to a high power "noisy" detector it's hard to beat. For coin hunting parks ect. there are better choices available in my opinion.

Pehaps your son should expand his options a little and consider some of the newer "menu-less" detectors from Fisher and Teknetics.

Hello and Thank you!
I use a DFX So i never really gave it any thought as to what type of hunting he does. I use mine for everything with some adjustments. I would say around home he does both some parks and some wooded areas and alot of friends homes since we live in a older town 1880-1940 mostly. When we go down home to visit. lots of woods and fields for relic hunting. Most of the family there are Tesoro users Southern IL, TN, KY. He uses a 1212X really successfully but he digs just about everything. So Basically 1st relic, woods. 2nd parks, lots. I would say he is the using it all the time. But i am the one paying for it so with that beggars cannot be to choosy but i want him not disappointed.

The 1265 is similar to the 1266. I had the 1266 and I know that the machine went completely bonkers in trash. A beautiful machine on cleaner fields with superb depth. But I could not use it on my iron infested fields. I had to go home and get the compass or tesoro. Like Tom mentioned, the 1270 operates somewhat the same. After reading many good reviews and comments, I bought a 1236x2 and I could not be happier. It handles iron very well.

Apart from that....... I always kept a weak spot for the 1266.
