Which Does A Better Job At Discriminating Iron?

I have too much free time to think about things.:)

If my Bandido II uMax, which has a ED-120, gives a slight crackle on a particular size iron nail at its lowest discrimination setting and then I set the discrimination on my Eldorado, which has a ED-180, so it also gives a slight crackle on the same exact iron nail, which detector is better at rejecting iron? Does a ED-120 do a better job at its lowest setting than the discriminator can on the Eldorado? The reason I ask this is because I've read that the Bandido runs smoother in iron than the Eldorado. Why?

I believe Tesoro is on vacation until the end of the year so in 2012 give them a call and talk to a tech for an expert evaluation.

PS: don't believe anything you read and only half of what you see is the thought of the day.

Try this link. Monte replies within the thread to a lot of discrimination characteristics on different detectors. Lot of good input from others too.

Thanks tvr. It appears to me that the Bandidio II uMax and the Eldorado 'uMax' are apples to apples and oranges to oranges on everything that would make any difference except one has a ED-120 and the other has a ED-180. So, if the discrimination knob on the Eldorado 'uMax' is turned up so the discrimination matches the ED-120 of the Bandido II uMax and the Eldorado 'uMax' is still not running as cleanly in iron as the Bandido II uMax, then there must be another reason.
