Just wondering which sounds you prefer and why, ferrous or conductive?

Thanks Gaz.. :)

Gaz, I'm still most comfortable with the sounds of conductive, being that's the setting that the manual & book had suggested for a newbie to the Safari. Starting to use ferrous more as it'll provide a difference between U.S clad (post 1964) and silver coins of the same denomination, based on the metal's conductivity. HH

Yesterday was the first time I tried using ferrous audio, and I think I will use that from now on. With ferrous audio it's possible to tell the difference between a Quarter and a dime, which isn't possible in conductive. Unfortunately copper pennies and dimes still have a similar tone and ID, but that's also the case with my other detectors. In addition, ferrous audio really helps to identify screw caps, as the ones I tested will give off a high tone in the quarter range but have a much lower target ID.

I like having the "iron" tones lower than the brass, lead, silver, etc. tones so I use ferrous tones.

I use conductive because it works very, very well for my situation and by cross saving I don't have to listen to all the iron that my area contains.

To those of you who are new to the Safari and may not be real sure which audio mode you are in, just look to the left of the battery icon on your screen for either a small "F" or "C" when first starting up or when changing search modes.
