Which disc does the Cutlass umax have ed120 or ed180?

Hi,

Just thinking : the Cutlass umax is a 12 Khz, the Cutlass II is a 10 Khz. That is sure.

So, it seems logical to think the first one has 180, the other 120

I'm curious how it compares to the compadre.

Hi everyone by the way, I'm pretty new to posting here.

Thanks,

Shawn

Tabdog knows the answer.
He knows a lot of answers!

tabdog:

The Cutless II uMax is just about identicle to tha
Silver uMax. They both have ED 120.

That is one step up from tha compadre. ED 180

The Compadre has just one knob.

The Cutless II uMax and Silver Sabre both have a
sensativity knob and a disc knob. It also has a
switch that chooses disc mode and all metal, which
is actually a motion discriminate mode without any
discrimination. They do not have a non-motion,
threashold based all metal mode.

The Conquistador has a ED 120 and is like the old
Silver Sabre uMax. But the Conquistador has frequency
shift and the SS uMax does not.

The Conquistador has a threashold based all metal
mode. The Cutless II uMax does not.

The Cibola and Vaquero are a better machine in my
opinion. They operate at 14kHz, where the others
except the Compadre operate at 10 kHz. They also
have the newer H.O.T. circuity.

The Compadre operates at 12kHz. It is kind of like
the older Tesoroes, but with a true ED 180.

I have a Silver Sabre uMax. I like it for cherry picking,
because of tha ED 120. It knocks out some small iron
with out using any discrimination.

Tha Eldorado has a true ED 180 with manual ground
balance.

The Eldorado was replaced with the Vaquero, more or
less.

which eldorado are you refferring to? i have the original big metal box, circa 1986. is it ef180?

Thank for the replies all.
I had read tabdog's posting earlier, but it only covered the cutlass "II" umax and I am wondering about the cutlass umax.

See I had been looking to get a smaller simpler detector to use, since lately the only places that I have had time to detect at has been the tot lots and small parks. I feel the other detectors that I was using were overkill. I have always wanted to try a Tesoro and was looking at the compadre. I liked that it ran at 12Khz. So while looking for one I came across and bought a really nice cutlass umax, I knew it ran at 12khz. Thinking great I can even change coils on this one and adjust the sensitivity. Then I start reading about how the compadre is true ED180 so better discrimination, I wondered what the cutlass umax had. I looked everywhere online, past postings and in the manuals at Tesoro's sight with no luck.

I think from what I have read about the cutlass umax that I will still like it for what I will use it for, but wonder if the combination of small coil, ED180, and 12khz is what gives the compadre its edge.

Thanks again,

Shawn
