Which Detector

Well its time to buy a better detector,i have a ID excel, now i want to move up.My choices are the ID edge,F4 and F75.The F75 is last only, because of the price.Any advice positive or negative would be appreciated.

I can't answer the question for you but I will say that I bought a F4 this summer and am very happy with it. I like it more each time I use it, especially now that I have the 4" coil for it. Alot of bang for the buck. Steve.

I hear a lot of good reports about the F4 and it is the latest technology from fisher, just like the Id excel when it first arrived. And then the problems started to surface. Now on the other hand the ID edge has been out for a while and still get good reviews, maybe i should flip a coin!LoL

I had the Excel, Got the F4 because it comes with two coils and you can buy the 4" Bounty Hunter coil for about $30.00 and the f4 is much lighter detector.

With that said you can cover just about any hunting conditions you wish.

Like SkiWhiz says thats a BIG BANG for your money.

I think there all good detectors Just my Preference.

Fisher manufactures many good units and depending on your wallet and preferences would have to be your choice so again visit a Fisher dealer and check them out. Also a club meeting would certainly make a good discussion...to help you decide....

I had the Coinstrike and loved it, so from what I hear the Edge could be a good choice...(I never got to use one though...)The ability to hipmount the control box would be a plus if you do any wading. I currently have the F75 and the F4. The F75 is my current "main squeeze". It is extremely flexible and adapts to just about any hunting scenario. Power to spare!

The F4 is better "mannered", but don't let that fool you. In my local soil, it is getting equal depths with the 11" DD as my CZ3D with the 8". The F4 is also the hands down winner for coil options (and coil prices). The F4 and 11" DD coil combo have outstanding target separation capabilities and a very flexible notching system.

It would be hard for you to go wrong with any of the options you listed... it's more a matter of how much you want to spend, and what you plan to do.

I had a ID Excel and it preformed very well real nice on nickles and decent depth. From there I bought a used CZ7a and was amazed at the silver coins that I found while going over the same area with the CZ.I did purchase a Edge and really liked the ergonomics, but it was a lot different from the Excel. The Edge I had seemed to pickup more false targets, not as stable, and it was slow to pinpoint with.I actually thought the Edge would be an improved Excel, but it was a different metal detector. The guy I purchased the Excel from says the same thing about the Edge.I would keep the Excel over the Edge. You may want to take a very close look at a CZ3D while your at the dealer.
