which detector?

Hi
I am hoping to start detecting in shallow to 2 meter sea water at my local beaches. I would appreciate any pointers as to which detector I should buy and where from. I have a budget of about 1000 usd.
Regards
Jon

If the beaches have a lot of ferrous items then I would suggest a Minelab Excalibur underwater detector to eliminate a lot of unnecessay digging, it's a little more than your budget but well worth the extra investment of another $100.
If the beaches are reasonably clean you may want to look at a PI machine, the Garrett Infinium comes to mind but it has a steeper learning curve than some machines.

Good Luck,

BDA:cool:

the more I use it,the more I like it.Hope to get a dive in with it
soon.First detector I've owned with negative bouyancy-won't float
away-but needs to be tethered or it sinks while you dig-but great
for the drop and fan.Good luck,Joe

I got my Excalibur just under 3 weeks ago and have really cleaned up with it! I love the thing!

I would Vote for the Excalibur Too. I tried those PI machines and got tired of finding trash. With the Excalibur you can leave that for those PI's
