Which detector to buy?

Rainyday101

New member
I have about $750 to spend on a land detector to be used for coins and rings. My soil has little mineralization. I want good depth and target seperation. I have been researching the following:

Outlaw
Vaquero
Omega 8000
Mxt Pro
Xterra 705
Fisher F70 and F5
Cortes

I currently own a silver umax.

Help me, I can't make my dam mind up!!!!!

Omega 800 that 8.2 khz will hit deep on silver and gold and will have very good seperation and choice of coils . Having said that i chose an outlaw, for its non motion all metal wich is deep say 9" on a quarter and 10" on a gold ring in the non motion all metal depth wise the outlaw was deeper than any tesoro i owned so far able to get in my badd ground , a dime at 6" not bad in disc. if its raw depth maybe a blisstool . but i say i like the tesoro coils . they give you lots of sway . from coverage to sniping the higher khz machines in my experiance will not hit hard on silver but i can say the outlaw is super on gold and average on silver . as far as a good sniping machine maybe the 705 with a 6" 3khz coil you know it is hard to dicide.

For just coins the Omega 8000. For coins and (gold) rings the Golden

Any EMI issues with the Omega 8000? I heard that can be a concern in rural areas.

I've said elsewhere that I am interested in the 705, but I don't know if it is a fit for your goals.

I bought a Golden umax specifically for hunting modern clad and jewelry - I got it a month ago. If I were you, I would keep that Silver and get a Golden umax and a cleansweep coil. If you don't have a 5.75", I'd find one. Between the two detectors and the coil selection, you should be able to hunt just about any and every type of site imaginable. The cleansweep will really, really change how you look at things.

BTW, I just bought a used Silver umax - I don't get it until Thursday. I got the Silver for the 8" coil and because I don't like the Golden combo'd with the cleansweep. The advice I am giving is a close mirror to what I am actually doing.

Save some money, and get a machine that is a killer - the Vaquero. Good Luck!

What do you think of the outlaw? I keep looking at that because it is a great deal with the three coils. Can't find a lot of info on it yet. Does anyone know if it is deep?

i just bought an outlaw myself, should get it by tomorrow. it was a toss up between the tejon and the outlaw(the 3 coils sealed the deal). i think the next machine will be the tejon. ive heard alot of good things about it.

GunnarMN, I have watched your youtube vids and am impressed. In sandy areas around here silver can get 8+ inches deep. Do you think the outlaw can get these?
