Hi, new guy here, but I've been reading on the forum for several weeks. I just got my first detector, a BH pioneer 505, and I am enjoying it quite a bit. I know its not a high end unit, but I have learned alot about it and have found quite a bit of clad with it. The all-metal mode is extremely deep, but the discriminate mode seems a good bit shallower (still decent i think). I don't feel that I've outgrown it, and I maybe never will, but I'd like to plan my next detector purchase. I will mostly hunt for coins in old parks and schools and homesites. I think I'd like a deeper discriminate mode for my next machine, and was thinking along the lines of a used Tesoro Golden Umax, Deleon, or maybe a whites M6 or MXT, but I'm open to all suggestions. Or maybe Ishould stick with a simpler, deeper machine and just dig everything?? I appreciate all opinions and your experience.

Thanks!

Both are top notch companies and products. If you are going to dig everything, the Tesoro will work fine, but I think if you can afford the M6 or MXT, I think your money would best be spent along those lines. 21 loops to choose from and loops and accessories will work for your next upgrade to the DFX or V3. Lots of aftermarket support for the White's line, like the SunRay In-Line probe, DX-1.

I have a bounty hunter sharp shooter II and a minelab x-terra 50 . The minelab goes deeper and gives 4 tones in all metal. I am getting ready to buy a minelab x-terra 505. I have heard good things about both whites you mentioned though.

Thanks for the responses and suggestions. It looks like a MXT or M6 can be found used in the 400$ range, do the x-terra 705's bring more used? Would it give more depth than the Deleon and Whites units mentioned? I have no experience with these machines so I appreciate the suggestions.

Thanks!

If you are going to a used detector an Explorer XS is one of the best units for worked out parks.Cheap price and one detector you won't grow out of for a while.Good Luck Ron

in the long run by investing in a detector that has either manual Ground Balance or an efficient auto-tracking circuitry. That eliminates the Tesoro DeLe

I guess I'm biased too. Agree with Monte.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Another question, are the depth about the same between the M6 and MXT? The tones on the M6 appeals to me as its closer to what I'm used to and I'll probably coinshoot 85% of the time and relic hunt the rest. I live in the delta so I probably would never use prospecting mode on the MXT. Are there any other advantages the MXT has over the M6?

Thanks
