Which detector is deeper 705 or garrett at pro?

Hi,

Can you tell me which one is deeper? in normal ground like park and in a salt beach and salt water.

Please answer the holders of the two detectors.

thx.

I spoke with John Athrop, who posts here from time to time. He had both and informed me that the AT Pro goes deeper by quite a considerable margin. From memory; i think he said that the AT Pro was 50% deeper on the local gold fields. He was quite surprised (and impressed). He had the 705 up for sale about a month ago. Sorry I can't give you first hand info, but I only own the X-Terra 70. I quite like the AT, but I can't own all the detectors I like.:(

On what kind of metal in what kind of ground using what coil?

Garrett At pro 8.5" x 11" DD PROformance

Minelab X-terra 705 DD 7,5 kHz 10,5"

Mick in Bubbo thx for your reply :)

I've found that my X-Terra 705 with the 5x10 (18.75kHz) coil goes deeper here than the AT Pro by at least 35%.

It will depend on your area, and ground minerals...as well as the frequency of coil on the minelab.

True story on a Minelab usage......... Not the 705 ,but the Xterra 70 very close in operation....... A few of us was detecting using various detectors from XS to Exp II..and Xterrra 70......... All machines went over the same area,
and the only machine that found good targets was the Xterra 70 . 3 - 8" deep Indian Heads. And 1 Silver Canadian coin.. Good solid hits with decent readings..... None of the Higher end Minelabs hit the targets and each hunted the area first....... I had the 3 KHZ coil on the 70.......... Yes the High end minelabs did go over the exact area......

I guess what I am trying to say.A lot of variables with the 705 could make the difference.Compared to the At-Pro.... Both are deep detectors and both have their good points.

you had the 3khz coil that is why , the AT at its 15khz will not do that well on high conductors but if it was gold I bet the AT would have been deeper I know this is tru from having a musky 5khz and a gold bug 19khz the higher khz resonate better with gold and the lower vs vsa, so if it is coins you are looking for use the 3khz coil of gold use the 18khz

Having owned both....and having all 3 freq. coils for the 705...although I can't vouch for either in salt water...the pro ( at least in my neck of the woods, Kansas ) is much deeper...not even close....

Thanks Jim For catching my error. ...Have no idea why I put in 50 and not 70.
