Which detector? Input appreciated

Looking at buying an MD again.I had a Garrett gtp 1350 and sold it due to some economic hardships last spring. I am fortunate to be in a much better financial state now along with having a very understanding wife so this brings me to my question:Which MD would you suggest in a price range of 300-400 dollars? I really don't want another gtp 1350.Great machine but gets a little heavy. I am looking for depth id, pinpointing, target id (vdi or icon),multi tone and it can be new or used. There are soooo many choices which brings me here to get honest info from experienced users not biased reviews from ”company” field testers.Your help will be greatly appreciated so don't pull any punches please.Whatever I buy has to last me a good while.Looking to buy in a couple weeks.

White's MXT Pro fits your needs except for price. It is the number 1 selling White's metal detector for good reason. It finds coins deep, it is a relic machine that goes deep and it is a prospecting machine that can find small gold deep. In each category you could find a machine that is better, but not find any better that is multi purpose. You also get White's service which is the best in the industry. You have a choice of 3 concentric coils and 4 DD coils from Whites that will tailor your machine to your ground and your finds.

Give Tesoro a look....lifetime warranty speaks loads of their commitment.

PS- Love my new DeLeon!

First thing to consider is first whether you want to buy used
or new.
Then you will need to make your mind up about which brand(s)
you are interested in.
Most folks tend to already have a mind-set about the brand
they prefer.
After you make these choices the rest will come easier
and more input from users will be more helpful.

A little more information would help. Would you want to work wet salt beaches ? Interested in relic hunting ? Wanting to gold hunt at times or never ? Or just basic coinshooting ?

if your gonna do beach hunting id go with the excalibur....:clapping::detecting:

Ramairnut, Instead of thinking about the price too much, get a decent one with the intent of using it as a tool to make you money.
I dont know where you live, but I see the advantages to night hunting, long battery life, simplicity, warranty, etc. Then, hit it hard and serious for a couple of months to try to pay it off. Maybe sniff around for a local detectorist in your area that may even LOAN you one to try out...or, take you along as a hunting buddy at night, and let you use one of his...just trying to help, good luck, and may you find some globs of platinum!

Aint nothing deeper than a Sovereign. A used older model is still as deep as the new GT and can be had for $300 or $400. Tone ID (much more so than a MXT), deeper than any machine I've ever owned including my Explorers, many coils to choose from, a meter with better resolution than an M6 or MXT, and so on. Chest mounts right out of the box for wading without the meter. Throw the meter on and tear up old parks others have given up on.
