Which detector for gulf coast

Overvoltage

New member
I am making a trip to the gulf coast in early April. I will have one full day to myself to detect the beach with no interruptions. If I can only take one machine which would you recommend, CTX-3030 or Infinium LS? I am torn between the two. I do have a phobea about dunking the CTX3030. I have the 6" and 11" coils for the CTX and I have the 10x14DD and 8" mono for the finny. Too many decisions, Help:shrug: I would love to take both machines, but I am afraid to leave one on the beach while I detect with the other.

I have been swinging the Infinium for over 6 years. If I were going for a week, I would take it. But for a day, to get the most out of my time...I would take the CTX, If I were proficient with it. If the seas are calm you can get away with the land headphone, I believe the connector is waterproof. You probably already know that the wireless headphones loose connections with the control box as soon as the box goes underwater. As I don't have a 3030 I would take my Excalibur IF I was going for only one day. More good targets dug, less trash and you will probably find only fresh drops. Good luck and may the ring of gold be in your scoop.

Thanks for the reply waterwalker. I am really leaning toward the finny with the 8" mono coil. I dont get to use the finny as much as I would like as I don't get to the beach often. I am really hoping to get out in the surf some. If I take the CTX it will not get submerged past the coil. No chances. As you said fresh drops in the sand. I guess I am being a little overcautious with the CTX, if I mess it up I am quite sure my wife will NOT let me get another one.

If you take the Infinium I would go with the stock DD coil. I have the 8" on mine right now, but it is winter and I am looking in some of the hardest digging area in New England which has a hard surf to work in. But just after Spring Break...the lack of trash...cover the most ground i.e. the biggest coil you can swing and pack. One of my Excals has the 15" WOT, love it for the summer months. Your time is short, you need to go for the most. The DD should out perform the 8" in this situation.
