which coil???

I've got a silver umax and I'm wondering which coil should I use for coin shooting and relic hunting,I live in east Tennessee if that makes a difference?

I find that the stock coil does a great job. I had a Silver uMax last summer and had very good results finding coins & jewelry using the stock coil. I have a new Silver uMax comming and I have a 5.75" concentric coil for it that I can't wait to try. The Silver uMax is a great detector. Steve.

The stock coil is pretty good, but if you can pickup a 7" , 5.75" of even the little 4" hockey puck they'll do better in heavy trash.

I've always been happy with my stock coils, except in very trashy areas.
Now I'm having fun with a hockey puck.

But in trashy areas the smaller concentric coil is a must.

Hello Newbe,

I like the stock coil most. It has good depth and good separation.

Right now I have a 7" concentric coil on my Silver, and it works very well.
It is a little more sensitive to small gold jewelry than the stock coil.
I've been using it in tot lots and the 7" works a little better for that.

But, the stock coil will do just as well and even better in most situations.

I find the stock coil works well in trash, but the smaller coil will give a little
better separation.

The 5.75" concentric works really good also. It's hot. I have not tried the 4".

Some people don't like the stock coil, but I have had good results with it.

I am fortunate enough to have a choice of five different coils.

I keep a 5.75 concentric on my Euro Sabre, but occasionally use a 12'X10"
concentric coil

I have a 5.75" concentric coil with my Vaquero, but can use the 9"X8" stock
coil with it for relic/ artifact hunting.

I use the 8" stock coil and 7" mostly on the Silver.

If I only had a stock coil and wanted another one for a Silver, it would be the 4".

HH,

Hi To Everyone, I Use the Lobo S/T and was looking to get the 3' by 18' coil any views on that setup?? I hunt nuggets 70% of the time, Thanks for any input.

I have been told that the 3x18 search head does not give you the depth that the 9x8 search head does, but it will cover more ground with each swing that you take with it.
Other people might say different or have other opinions on the 3x18, i wish you luck and look forward to reading what others have to say on this search head.
all the best and happy hunting to you, Les in the UK
