Which coil

I have a minelab X70 and want to know which coil to hunt relics with?
Looking for depth for finding buttons.

Get the elliptical DD coil, The design of the coil and higher kHz enhances separation. And detects deep!

I've compared the lower kHz 10.5" DD with the higher kHz elliptical DD coil and found the elliptical to be less acceptable to iron masking, Some say there is no difference between the two but there really is.

Hi bob,

Stephen's question on which coil works best for locating buttons....Due to the higher kHz on the elliptical DD coil, This would be the better coil for recovering buttons and for most relic hunting. Plus, This coil will enhance separation over any of the lower kHz coils. Buttons fall in the lower conductivity scale, So the higher kHz will enhance the signal on lower conductors and the lower kHz is best for coins.

I'll post a test here in the future showing the higher kHz elliptical DD is the better coil over the lower kHz coils for buttons and other lower conductors, You guys and gals can perform the same test and see the same results.

If the 7.5Khz stock coil is not doing it for you there are 3 choices for the high frequency coil. The concentric should be a little deeper than the DD's and just as sensitive as the elliptic on the small stuff. The round DD may give up a little depth on the small buttons in good ground but would be a better "tough ground" choice.

9" Concentric - 3kHz; 7.5kHz; 18.75kHz

10" Elliptical Double D - 18.75kHz

10.5" Double D Round - 7.5kHz & 18.75kHz
