Which Coil Shoud I Buy?

Dream Catcher

New member
I've been thinking about buying a smaller coil. Garret has one availible for the that looks like a hockey puck.. Now, I see you can buy the 5X8 that is the stock coil for the AT gold.
I doing a lot of coin shooting in parks.

Suggestions and cooments?

If you are hunting along side metal play equipment or along chain link fences, the sniper coil can get up right beside those areas. The 5 x 8 coil can not get up that close to those areas however, because it is a DD coil and has a narrow detecting field vertically, it does an excellent job picking out coins buried directly beside or even underneath some junk targets.

Hope this helps. The sniper coil should easily get at least 6" on a coin sized object in good soil, the 5 x 8 even

I got the 5x8 for the same reason coin hunting and holy crap it seems small compared to the 8x11 and man is it light. It makes the machine a whole different one now and it seperates like crazy in the trash and has almost the depth of the 11" coil.
I'm very happy with it and so if your looking for overall hunting I wouldn't hesitate to get one. I probably wouldn't even use the sniper much at all.
I got other detectors so don't need the 5" as I have them for a couple of the other machines already so the 5x8 made sense for me to get. I can't get over how light the AT-PRO is now with that coil on it. I may not ever take it off I think.
