Which coil is the deepest and best for 1266x?

A friend of mine says that there is an old 12 inch coil that was really deep and worked great on the 12 series detectors. Can anyone shed some light on this? Was it a Hothead? I have heard that some of those coils did not work well.

I believe Kellyco had a large Hothead which is no longer made and Fisher had a 10.5 which gave coverage but were heavy and added little depth. 1266 is a very powerful unit and the 8 inch coil gives as good as depth as any on the market once you learn the audio. Years ago I know when I put on a larger coil had to lower the sensitivity to have a stable machine which sort of took away any additional depth so I would stick with the stock coil and learn the audio( which is not easy with the snap crackle and pop) and the deepies will come...

You have 2 choices to get more depth, a new machine or a larger loop. Trust me, you can live with the small eccentricities-run silent search- it will give you at least a 25+++% increase.

On the 1266 and 1270 the 10.5" coil does add depth, moreso than on any of the other Fishers IMO.
