Which coil for open field hunting?

I am using the 5" excelerator coil on my M6 for park and trashy hunting but I have access to two old farm fields - one where an old church stood and one where an old pioneer station stood - which coil would work best in those fields?

Just my opinion, but this is what I would do.
Low mineralization minimal trash = Stock coil 950
High mineralization & trashy site = 6x10 Eclipse DD
High mineralization no trash = Deep Scan 1400 or 12" Hot shot by Jimmy Sierra.
Good Luck HH

Hi, Their is a good selection of coils you could use for open fields. My favorites at this time are the White's 6x10DD and Kellyco's 4.5x7 DD Excelerator. Another Excelerator coil that you might want to look at is the Excelerator 8"DD. White's 1400(8X14) is a good coil, but it is heavy and after hunting awhile you will be ready to go to something a little lighter, I know I would. Well good luck with your decision let us know what you decide. HH Dennis in Idaho
