which coil for 5500 /D series 3

I bought a 500D series 3 detector from e-bay. It is the black box with red and yellow guage.
It also has a curved shaft with a twist lock system. What year was this made. The mounting holes and screw are 5/16". It came with a 10" #97386 coil that works but was drilled out to fit. Also a 9.5" xlt coil that has a 5/16 mounting hole but does not work on the 5500 D /3
What coils fit this unit..?
Will Jimmie Sierra;'s big foot coil work ?

I think the 5500/D S3 dates back to 1992 and the manual is here: http://media.whiteselectronics.com/manuals/Coinmaster%20Manuals/CM%205500%20D%20S3%20Instruction%20Manual.pdf

Since the XLT was not made yet, I don't think the coils would work on the 5500, even if they were the same frequency. Not sure, but I think they had different wiring configuration.
