Which Big Coil on Sovereign

Would like to know what big size coil and brand you use on the sovereign
Will be putting this on a sovereign Xs
Only using at the beach

Ive used the wot years ago at the beach ,was great for coins and i do recall finding at least one gold ring with it but only like using it in farm fields now... i have modified my excal so i can change coils... i now use the nel thunder coil and it has become my favorite to use at the beach... i find i can run it hotter than the wot with less nulling or falsing and i cant remember digging any steel bottle caps with it.. ive used the thunder on maybe 10 saltwater beach hunts and scored 2 mid sized gold rings with it...

13" .... thou if you are hunting salt water beaches nearer/in the water things change and for the most part you are just as well off using the standard coil.

I bought the WOT coil thinking it would go deeper. That did not happen, I can get deeper with the 10 inch or 8 inch Tornado.

I keep the WOT for doing recovery calls to cover more area on a fresh drop.

If I'm looking for deep gold rings I use the 10 inch or 8 inch Tornado coils. I only have one place I can get the sensitivity up on the WOT all other places are to trashy. It also takes getting used to having multiple targets under the coil at the same time kinda messes with pinpointing.

I have used the SEF 13" and the 10x12. Both worked well but you do have to adjust sensitivity as conditions change.

I like the Ultimate 13 inch for the Sovereign, especially in all metal. It is light for its size, handles sensitivity almost as high as the stock 10 inch and is very stable until you get knee deep in the water, then you have to really turn down the sensitivity.

The NEL Attack 15 inch is a little more fussy to swing and does not like being anywhere near a CTX, but the coverage and the depth are amazing. It is much more stable than the WOT.

Both of these are nice coils to use for reverse hunting. I always use a bungee type over the shoulder harness with the NEL Attack coil, and occasionally with the Ultimate 13. Both can get unstable if you get water in the coil cover or water droplets on the coil itself. If you plan on going in and out of water, leaving the coil cover off and giving the coil bottom a quick spray with silicone can make for an easier hunt.

Good luck!

Critter Hunter use to rat and rave about the SEF 10x12. After a few years I think this is one of the best coils for the Sovereign. The first time I tried this coil on my Sovereign I found 4 silver coins in a overworked park that seldom produced silver coins. Sold this coil to a friend, which now I'll purchase a new coil for this season.
