Which 5.75 coil?

John (Ma)

New member
I am curious if people like the widescan or concentric 5.75 coils? Especially those that hunt iron areas, I would love to hear from. Thanks

One guy I know that hunts in iron infested sites for relics swears by the concentric coil over the widescan and this is in moderate to heavy mineralized soil.

If soil conditions don't dictate a need for a DD coil you'll be better off with a concentric coil. It's deeper, and it discriminates and pinpoints better.

John,
I have both and prefer the concentric for its better discrimination performance and it is noticably lighter than the widescan coil.

I appreciate the input, perhaps the concentric is the way to go in this situation, Thanks!

what the ground mineral conditions are. I live in a high mineral area, and I hunt places that are mellower and worse, and the Concentric always out-performed the Wide-scan (DD) coil.

I've had that same preference for decades and don't plan to change it. :detecting:
