Where's the Silver?

I reside in a small town and there are a few older parks.

Seems like all the silver may be swooped up. I was
talking to my wife today and she says ...maybe it's deeper.

And it could be? I think that I am going to have to do some
detecting with the AT GOLD in all metal mode and see if
the increase depth finds some?

No silver or gold as of yet but always plenty of change
and enjoy another Free cup of coffee!

Yeah it is there somewhere, just a little harder to find now. I go through dry spells on silver and then I will get 7 in one week. Right now I am on a long drought, but I have not got much hunting in the last month.

Check around big old trees, even in the woods at parks. Just cause it is overgrown now doesn't mean it was then. Steep banks where kids slide down on the grass or snow in winter are good spots too. Along dirt footpaths, fences, under and behind old park benches. And never discount the grass strips between the road and the sidewalk.

Larry.....do not get discouraged...just got off a long drought of silver....then.....whammo......it ends. Been doing this 30+ yrs. Anyone thats done it for awhile will tell you what your reading in this thread.....just keep on keepin on. It will happen:)

i have no idea what your area is like. i would say that if you arent finding silver i would regather myself and nail down why. check historic aerials if you can and make sure those parks havent changed. also, when you are detecting these sites, it would be good to take notes on at what depth you are finding coins and what dates they are. this will help you identify the sink rate of the soils and the strata of the coins. it could be that they have been hammered, changed, etc. But you need to find out if it is you or the sites.

Slow your swinging and walking down. Listen and dig all iffy, deeper signals. Hunt the perimeters, in the trees, under bushes, etc. If these are older parks, I would be surprised if they didn't hold some silver.

Something else I would try if these aren't super trashy parks. I would do the auto balance and then back the ground balance off 15 points under what the auto ground balance lands on. This will help bring out coppers and silver. Cranked sensitivty, unless there is heavy iron.

Let us know how it goes!
