DFX Having trouble with the threshold not a steady tone, screen is going whacky if i set the pre amp to 1 or set the ac sensitivity down a little it will runs a little better. tried two different coils wheres the best place for service Thanks Paul

Try turning it on and while it is running remove the battery. This works with the XLT. May fix the glitch in the DFX as well.

What Rebel1 is describing is called a hard reset. It is the first thing you should do if the detector is behaving erratically.
If that doesn't fix it, and you determine it needs to go in for repair, any White's service center will do a great job. Personally, though, I prefer to send my detectors in to the mother ship in Sweet Home. Since they are the folks that built it in the first place and all they work on are White's detectors. Just be prepared for longer shipping times.
