Apparently there was a product introduction/roll out meeting held for a new machine with the Fisher moniker in Texas. Most likely held at or near FT/BH headquarters.
To be a fly on the wall would have been a hoot. Not so much because of the product, but because of the, shall we say the introduction to the dealers & distributors of how FT/BH does business. Right now the prevailing feeling of the forum hounds seems to be that the new machine will be an offshoot of the T2.
This will present an interesting merchandising challenge. Because in essence the T2 is an updated MXT, and the new Fisher would then be an updated T2, therefore an MXT Rev3. The current upper mid-level priced machine market is very crowded, and so looms the possibility of another machine with similar pricing and features.
Any Fisher dealers who picked up the T2 will have their hands full differentiating the new Fisher from it at whatever the price difference will be. And do you price them head to head? Who gets top billing on shelf space and position? Was the Teknetics name just a stop gap brand position until the Fisher deal presented an opportunity? If a dealer was getting co-op advertising and spiffs on the T2, does that go away because the Fisher name "is our new focus". And if you were a White's dealer also, do you need the F-whatever, T2, MXT, M6, and supposedly M7 on the way. How many upper mid-level machines do you need and can you support? That's a lot of money sitting there, and if on floor plan, soon to be wiping out your profits if you don't move them.
Like I said, like to have been at that meeting.
