i live in far north queensland, australia.to get a wave action like the southern states experiance,we need a strong wind or a cyclone to get the same wave action to stir up the beachs here to find all the lost goodies.the wave action on a normal day here,is like being in an enclosed lake, what with the great barrier reef, slowing down nearly all of the waves to a slight ripplet.so where do you find or look for those little lost treasures that bring a smile to your face?i hunt the dry sand, looking in all of those places that may conceivably be a place where more than the heat of passion was lost wading through all those used funny coloured used balloons.most of the queenslanders with any sense do not lay out in the sun frying to a crisp, but seek shade between dips in the ocean to cool off.only tourists and people of the southern states do that trying to lose their ghostly pallor before going back and bragging about their holliday in the far north.so where do you look, other than where i've stated? hh see ya ! blowfly:detecting::rofl:

Hey blowy
Ever thought about those rocky swimming holes up in the fresh or don't you have an under water tecta?
When I was up that way a few yrs back I went to a local swimming hole where no croc's can go and thought how good it would be
having a bit of a look at. I think that was around Kuranda. Even Tinaroo dam should be pretty good especially around the boat ramp.
If all else fails go chase one those Barra while ya up there.
Gudday TNBob, I don't know of anybody who drinks Fosters here in QLD, but a cold Bundy or XXXX (pronouced 4X) at the
local or beach would go down a treat. Ohh yes a Bundy is our very own Bundaberg Rum distilled in a town on the coast of
Queensland called Bundaberg. XXXX is made in Brisbane.
Happy hunting Blowfly and stay away from those crocs (Mud geckos)
Cheers

gid day aushunter,in the last couple of weeks,if you are detecting a beach,it pays to keep a wary eye on the water as you move up or down the beach.there has been several sightings of large geckos cruising the beachs here.i went looking up a creek here in the freshwater, plenty of aussie trash.one creek i did wander up with my detector is called crystal cascades and it was along side the main track to the 1800 goldfields on the palmer river.i found some funny looking metal things and took them to someone who would know what they were.he said where did i find them?so i told him and he said don't you know it's against the law in queensland to use ametal detector in a national park?he said if the rangers had caught you? just when you think you may have stumbled on el dorado the powers step in and say no ! bugger !!! oh well there are plenty of other places to hunt. hh see ya blowfly.
