Where is the old Coins?

I use a 750 and love it. I've hunted some virgin
ground and find newer coins at 6" but no older
coins. Does the soil type have anything to do with it? jsgold46

In my neck of the woods areas have been hit hard and silver coins are nor reseeded making it tougher each year. I think some research is in order and asking some landowners to hunt areas may well put a few silvers in your pouch..Average silver coin may be about 6 inches in my area but are some that are 10 inches plus. Indeed high mineralization soil can cause you loss of depth. Guess it all comes down to your area as some silver is really deep and others it is not. Keep punching as it will come..

Thanks Dan but the places I have never been hit before. The soil is loamy here and I run sentitivity
about 6 1/2. Should I use my larger coil DD.?

Area may never have been hit before, but are there old silver in the ground..Some of the nicest places I ever seen produced little while iffie places produced so take this into consideration. Surely a larger coil will get you deeper if that is your consideration..Quite frankly some areas just don't have any old silver as they have been filled in. Major consideratrion for many old yards...Basically if you hunt a mountain than doesn't have a 10 point buck you are not going to shoot one..

A couple of things to remember - silver has been out of circulation since 1964 and detectors have been in circulation since about 1932.

If you haven't read it, do so. I re-read it numerous times. It's full of information on what, how, where and when to hunt. I found 100 silver coins (again) this year. Next year will be my 10th year using Garrett machines as my best coin finding machines.
