Where is the new top of the line Whites ?

Hey all. I already have 2 detectors that I love , and I am looking for a third top of the line model. I want to get a Whites but I am hesitant since the DFX has been around for a while. I don't want to throw down the $1000 only to see a new top of the line whites come out a week later. Anyone have any input as to when Whites will have a DFX replacement.

..'cause with the looming release of the new discriminating PI detectors the bottom might fall out of the high-end VLF detector market. Right now, a major part of the marketing strategy seems to focus on the 'depth wars' and accurate ID. Well, the new PI's should get much greater depth and better ID at depth (in hot soil). Who'd want to buy a $1000+ VLF detector when a PI could do much better. If you look at the specs for the Pulse Devil, it has features that make for a very attractive detector to own. It's also upgradeable. White's is also rumored to have a disc'ing PI in the works.. that might be their newest and greatest. Who knows. They might even feel that the DFX is adequate for now. The company to watch is Garrett; if they come out with an enhanced Ace 250 at a bargain basement price it might very well hurt the other manufacturers badly (financially that is). There might have been a big scare because of the Fisher fiasco(s). There are only so many dud detectors that a company can come out with before their ship is sunk. I have a feeling that the Prism series might be one of them. Yup, there will be people out there who will chip in saying otherwise, but it really has the smell of the Quantum II/QXT floating around. I mean, truly, just check out the price of the Prizms and features and coil selection vs. the Ace 250. On top of this there's the looming threat of Chinese competition; they're coming and the days of flogging feature limited detectors for premium prices are coming to an end. ..Willy.

White's hasn't been in business for over 60 years by sitting on their butts. They have to keep up with the other top dogs and with the Minelab SE and Fisher's new F-75, I would say White's is due out for something real good. I hope Willy is right about the Pulse Induction, Target ID detector. Something like this would take quite a bit of research and testing, though. I think White's has the edge overall because of their wide variety of coils and a different coil makes a machine SEEM like new, at least to me. All we can do is spectulate because a new model should be a surprise to both us owners and the competition. Ron

not that I'm trying to start an argument here, but how long had Fisher been in business? Look what happened to them. ..Willy.

Fisher bought out Bounty Hunter, didn't they? Maybe that was their mistake.

Did they? I'd think, if they did, that it would make for a net gain.. everyone carries BH detectors. They must have an incredible turnover. I think it was more in the lines of stupid decisions re. detector models; Goldstrike/Coinstrike, dropping the CZ's, CZ20 axed, Excel series. ...Willy.

But Fisher is back and in a big way and now everyone has to catch up and pass the F75 it is the best thing to come out in years. And very advanced for relic and coin detecting. Better then the DFX and I have one The DEX and the XL 6000 Pro but the fisher is so great in iron and trash one of if not the fastest out on the market
!

I think the dfx is worth throwing the money into! When I got mine last year I thought the same thing! Should I wait for something new??? Then I noticed there was a group of people who owned the dfx and whined it was to hard, some had sold, some had still not read the manual, some had other lame excuses! But then after searching forums I saw a group of dfx users spread out having great success, I decided to join the successful users and left the whiners behind!:whites:

You might want to check out the Fisher F75 one of the fastest and deepest machines on the market. Great in Iron and a great coin turf hunter
