where is the difference between the 10.5 dd and the 5x10 dd??

I have both but it just seems like the 5x10 covers just as much ground per sweep so what is the actually benifit of using the heavier 10.5 dd

since dd have the blade detection seems the only hot area is directly down the middle of the coil with alittle shallow fringe area off to each side.

Both are Double-D which offers superior discrimination in mineralized ground....
And as noted above, the DD coils put down a blade shaped emission field which requires
less overlapping when swinging the detector coil. DD coils handle higher mineralization
better than Concentric Coils.

10.5" DD HF Coil
However, the 10.5" coil is a larger coil. Whilst it will go slightly deeper, it is also going to ignore small targets.
So the 10.5" coil is not as suitable for Nugget Hunting as the 10x5" Elliptical coil.
The 10.5" coil is better suited to beach hunting and relic hunting on farms and old homesteads.

10x5" DD HF Coil
The 10x5" Elliptical coil was specifically designed for Nugget Hunting in mineralized ground.
Its elliptical shape allows the user to sweep the coil into narrow spaces and around bushes more easily.
The 10x5" coil is more sensitive to smaller targets than the 10.5" coil.
Therefore the 10x5" Elliptical is best used as a general use Nugget Hunting coil.

6" DD HF Coil
The smaller the coils get, the more sensitive they become to Ground Noise.
Hence the smaller 6" DD HF coil (which is smaller than both coils above) tends to be extremely
sensitive to VERY small targets but can become unstable in hot grounds. It is waterproof.
The 6" DD coil is therefore best used as a specialized coil for hunting shallow soils & creeks.

Cheers,

Marco
