The ideal blood pressure is 120/80 and you will find that in young people. Us older people will have a large range of blood pressure readings from day to day, and even from minute to minute depending on what we are doing and what we eat can affect the readings. The top number is the important one, when you get consistant readings above 150 this is doing damage to your heart and kidneys and could also produce a stroke. A very low reading below 100 tells us that your heart is not functioning correctly.

The bottom number indicates that there has already been damage done to your heart. 60's is not bad if it is a consistant reading and does not go any lower than that. You also have to take into account that you are using a home blood pressure cuff and although they are very good, sometimes the readings are not reliable. To take your blood pressure correctly you need to sit still in a comfortable chair for at least 10 minutes and at least 1/2 hour after eating. This will be your most accurate blood pressure.

Top number 120
bottom number 80

Your medication and when you take it can also affect your blood pressure.

Your numbers are ok........do not worry.
