Where is a good place to ID jewlery found

I take all my Jewelry finds to 3 - 4 local jewelry shops (not pawn shops) now if all the stores are giving me the same price, It's a starting point, obvious it's wholesale price, You now could put the item on Ebay starting at the whole sale price and get more ? Taking the item to a jewelry appraiser, like people do for for insurance purpose's, will inflate the price, which you most likely would never sell for.

[size=large]i'm gunna quess you're talking about identifying whether it's gold or silver? not how much but what is it? if that's the case take it to somewhere that's buying gold. let them tell you it's worthless or 10k. most of the time there's gunna be a mark somewhere.
