Where do you make your best finds?

Coin find that is, So far mine has been the swimming hole by far with my only silver coin. Where do you find your best ones? Churches, Old home sites, parks, ball fields, or something else? This might give us some ideas of where to search a little harder at. Thanks all!!

By far I have had more luck ...IN MY OWN YARD!. My house is a suburban home on less than a quarter acre built in the 1960's. It is the site of a farm dating back before 1877. It was here that I got hooked on the hobby, after finding my first silver coin (a 1939 quarter) and a No.6 sleigh bell dating back to the mid 1800's. I have found about 8 or 9 silver quarters, over a dozen silver rosies, 2 mercs. 2 buffalo nickels, and over 30 wheat cents. In addition I have dug up unidentified farm equipment, old bullets, and many other "newer" finds including a 1967 dog license. I have yet to search with the 12.5 inch coil, and I cannot wait until my neighbors go on vacation so I can sneak into their yard. (Just Kidding).

Hi My best finds so far by far have been from old ski hills LOTS of silver but tough going. Bears bugs and big hills but worth it . HH George from Colorado

My favourite sites are flea market sites, on the grounds of public pools(ask if you can detect in there.I have hunted 4 pools so far with no refusals.) and any sporting field that gets a lot of traffic.

In the refrigerator! No, seriously, gold miners have a saying about this question. Anyone guess what it is? " Gold is where you find it."
Your best finds will be in your own area. You know the territory, so to speak. I am very fortunate to live on the coast of New England. We have so many beaches, shipwrecks, pirate lore, etc. So I study up on all this stuff.
It always amazes me how TH'ers in Kansas, or Alabama, just to name a few places, can come up with so much awesome treasure. There are some real treasure hounds out there. I have come to the conclusion that a good treasure hunter will find treasure whereever he or she happens to be. You might think some places would be better than other, but not nessesarily. Some of the best treasure has been found in really out of the way places. I think it just depends on how committed you are. If you haven't been committed yet, your wife will help you with that! Keep on investigating, Kevin in Ipswich, Mass.

Last silver Rosey I found was less than a mile from my home. Chances are, if you could round up all the lost jewelry within a 6 mile radius of your own house, it would fill buckets!

With a little deductive reasoning, you will find likely places all around you.

I agree with Camman, old homesteads are great. I made my best finds around old homes and in the wooded cellar holes. Large draped bust pennys and 1800's victorian silver jewelery. Here's one from my friends 1700-1800's house front yard about 5" deep.
