Where do Indians register...

on the smartfind screen? I've NEVER dug an indian and it's driving me nuts. I also just read a post suggesting that indians fall on the right side of the smartscreen above the crowncap zone. Is that right? For some reason, I thought indians fell where zinc pennies fall (that could definitely be a carry-over from the CZ too.) I've put a lot of time into learning the XS and I'm getting better with it thanks to responses from fellow detectorists.
HH and GL to all.

The majority of indians are actually considered brass I believe. Most of the indians I have encountered fall a little below and a litle to the left of wheats on the smart screen. But deep indians can bounce all over the place at times. I think Jim of upstate New York is like the king of indian heads. You might want to send him an email for a more expert opinion on indian readings.

Well in my area they fall a bit below where zincs come in on the bronze ones.. very close to a high tab reading.. the fat ones come in at about a full crosshair above nickels

Well, the short story is I have seen many a 'hit' on the smartscreen in the areas you're referring to on the screen...and I don't belive I've ever dug a single one. Thought they were trash :)-( Well, what the heck, now I know!!
Just below zincs and above nickels. Cool! Thanks, again, for your help and patience answering what must look like dumb questions.
HH and GL!

Sorry I could not resist. I know it was not politically correct. I hope I did not offend anyone I did not mean too. Just my warped sense of humor.
