Well, my vacation east of here was nice as far as the weather goes. Stayed at a campground that my wife and I have driven by several times and finally decided to check it out. We ended up with the best spot in the whole campground and stayed there a week. Got everything all hooked up and decided to run down to the store and pick up a few things. Just before we left I turned on the kitchen faucet and when I turned it off the whole top of the faucet blew off and I had water all over the place. My wife finally got the water turned off and we mopped up the mess. Ran down to Wally World and picked up a new faucet, got it installed and that fixed the problem. Sat morning I turned on the furnace to take the chill off inside the trailer and it came on and then it wouldn't come on again. I just paid over $300 last April to have it fixed and it lasted about an hour!! OK, enough of my trailer problems. Well, that old farm house that I posted a picture of turned out to be a bust!! I wasn't there but about ten minutes and my SE started to go nuts on me. I was getting all kinds of noises through my headphones and no matter what I did to try and fix it, nothing worked. I don't know if it was the coil or what, but it sure ruined my chance to hunt this place that is over a hundred years old. Luckily, before my SE went south on me I was able to detect this little triangle shaped park in an old neighborhood and managed to sniff out two mercs dated 42 and 45, two wheats dated 50 and 56 and my fourth SLQ dated 1928 and a 50 cent Mexican coin. I'm thinking this is a great place, but it all came to an end. One of the neighbors didn't appreciate me metal detecting in "their" park and told me that if I didn't leave that he was going to call the sheriff. I tried in vain to show him how neat and tidy I was at doing my plugs, but he wouldn't have anything to do with it or me. I didn't press the issue and spoke under my breathe and thanked him for the coins that I did manage to bring to the light of day once again. I also got a cheap ring and an old dog tag. I thought the number 442 on it was kind of cool and my first thought was the old Oldsmobile 442. Now for the best part of my post. I never thought I would find a LC without going back east someplace, but my prayer has been answered and I found it at the most unlikely place. I drove past this grade school a couple of times and didn't stop. After my SE went bonkers I grabbed my Predator II and went to this school on Thursday the day before we came home and glad I did. I would have liked to have found this LC in some old dirt someplace, but you gotta take em where you find em. I'm sure some kid took it to school for show and tell or something and lost it. I'm sure his or her dad are not very happy about it, but it sure made my day and now I can scratch it off of my finds list. It's dated 1835 and my oldest coin to date and I'm still pinching myself. Sorry for the long story fellows. My invitation to hunt that old farm place is still open and I will be back there one of these days. Thanks for looking and HH everyone.
