Where do I ask or find information about how to use THIS forum?

I am trying to figure out how to PM a member regarding an item in the Classifieds section. Also trying to figure out how to see messages sent to me. I can not find any information on this. I don't even know if this is the correct forum.

i looked but i can't find a listing for the forum rules. the only ones i can remember are you have to have a certain number of posts before you can use the PM function and buy and sell on the classifieds but i don't remember what the number is.

at the top of this forum there's a link for instructions for new users. it says that you have to be a member for 3 weeks before you can use pm service.

I don't see that. Besides I've been on here for 7 weeks and don't have access.
What a shame new members are treated this way.

i found the rules. they're listed at the top of the classified forums. registered for 90 days and 24 posts. this is to keep people not really interested in treasure hunting from posting. lost treasure magazine's forums have a real problem with this. people post a comment that has nothing to do with treasure hunting and then list a link trying to sell prom dresses and other things. good luck

Thanks Chuck. The rules in the classifieds are much easier to find - but I didn't see the rules against new members sending and receiving members. The only rules I found pertaining to that I noted in my previous point.
I am a member of several forums in this hobby and others, and understand the safe gaurds against spam. This board is certainly the most restrictive for new members.
I was hoping a moderator or admin could address this, but maybe they can't message me either!

No answer from mods or admins, and no way to PM them. I'm over it.... Will stick with the other forums. This forum is not at all friendly to new membership.

2 things i don't understand is why hasn't someone else offered a solution and why after making 6 posts in 3 months does it still say you only have 14. it could be that the number of posts made is updated everytime you make one on all the posts you've made. if thats the case i think i read somewhere that you had to have 24 posts to be able to use the PM feature.

I don't have much to say - and because I'm a second class citizen here I hardly even come to this site.

Once in a while I come here when a friend posts a link to a good deal in the sales section.
Of course, after spending hours trying to find a way to contact a seller I posted here.
This HAS cost sellers in here sales, but if it makes the admins feel better so be it. Their house, their rules. And I'm just a noob so my feedback weighs very, very little if at all.

2. Only items that are metal detectors are allowed to be posted on this page. Please use the Accessories Classified Forum page for other metal detecting items.

3. Only For Sale, For Trade, or Wanted to Buy ads are allowed.

We did find these rules for posting ads. But did not find out what it takes to message another member who has an item for sale. I purchased an Etrac and some coils that were listed on other venues because I could not do so from here without replying to a post. I would not post my email or other personal information in public. Again, this is just feedback. The rules are not clearly posted (nor is my inquiry addressed in the quote above). Thank you.

Hmm as of the last post (#1 I now have the "Send a Message" option.
So the 24 post rule does not apply to sending a message apparently.

if I'm reading the rules right the 24 posts are needed to be able to post something in the classifieds for sale. that is a safe guard against someone just coming on here to try to sell things

Member messaging features is enabled on 15th day of being a member and submitted at least 15 posts on Findmall forums. Both rules must apply before it is enabled.

It was put in to prevent the hit and run spammers and also to prevent those non-sponsors dealers trying to take advantage of It
