Where Did All the Gold Go ???

[sup][sup]I've noticed lately that except for a few hunters that are extremely persistent, there has a been serious drop off in the amount of gold finds in the past 6 months.
I know that quite a few hunters have stopped posting their gold finds due to scammers trying to claim their finds by deceit.
Personally, I haven't been able to hunt as much as I used to because of work committments and with the recession putting pressure on most folks maybe people just aren't hunting as much.
Maybe the rise in the price of gold has just put a lot more pressure on the beaches by newbies that don't post on treasure hunting forums.
This is consistent for all of the forums that I am a member on, very strange that we would all be sanded in at the same time.

Anybody have a theory as to where the gold has gone to?

Cheers,[/sup]

For me, both the weather and the work / family commitments have put a serious cramp on the amount of time spent covering ground compared to a year ago.

Up here in the north east everything is sanded in and fresh drops are not going to happen until spring/summer.
Maybe the economy has less people traveling to the shore in the warmer clients???
On a side note, even if someone "claims" something they see here was theirs is there anything they can do? Less the item having a serial number and them reporting it stolen can they even prove it? I have never had anything like that happen, what experience have others have?

The beach season don't start in my neck of the woods for another month or two......Even thought it was in the High 80's this weekend..... But I did manage to harvest Two Gold Rings one with a Big Diamond at my Local Park last month....

Personally I think all the talk about what metal detectors find has made people aware enough to think twice about not wearing there gold to the beach. Sorry to dis like that but none of my family wear there rings to the beach anymore after I found my sisters gold wedding band. ( i wanted to keep it but she has to much dirt on me), hehe just a thought.

I have been out hunting a total of 3 times since last November.. real life and the wife and I moved into a new house and that has taken up my time... from what I have seen though, I'm not missing much...

It's still out there but you really have to look for it.Since I don't live near the ocean,I look for older swim areas. If you hit one that produces nickles and pulltabs but no or few other coins odds are someone has worked it with high disc. One I am currently working has produced 11 gold and only 1 silver ring in the past two months.Occasionally I'll find a deeper penny, quarter or dime but most of these higher signals have been cleaned out.I always get excited when I get a good signal from just below pulltab down to zero vdi. Most silver rings fall right on quarter so these can be really good too.DBULL
