WHERE ARE THE QUATTRO MANIACS!

DUCTMAN

New member
Was wondering, getting my quattro in 2 days and i planted a test garden with a q,d,n,p and an aluminum can at diff depths, the quart and can at 12" then 9,6 and 3" with the penny, nic, and dime, should I have planted iron too? I also read about a blanket test with sim items,I guess i"ll do both?
THANKS FOR ANY INFO. JOE

Had mine for about 4 months on the beach.. Quattro likes to be swung LOW & SLOW.. In heavy mineralization, back your sensitivity down to 13-14 in the salt. Also added an Excellerator 14" coil and can get pretty deep (over 20" today digging a pair of copper rimmed sunglasses)

I never did bury rusty iron. Good idea though.

I planted my garden with only 1 or 2 "easy" targets (one at 4" and another at 6"). All the others are 6-12" deep. One pull tab at 6". Quattro was able to "hit" all the targets. The 8" penny was a little tough. Maybe there was some mineralization in that spot.

It's always interesting because you think you plant the garden in an iron free place and then you realize there is iron masking one of your targets.

One test that you will be surprised at - take a nail and start off with the nail being 1" from a coin. Keep increasing the distance until you can pick up the coin. It's amazing how well a "big" rusty item can mask any target within a couple of inches of it - especially using the stock coil.

I agree with you Mirage. I did that at the beach and the iron masked the good item. I bet if we used a smaller coil, we could break through that problem, but may lose a little depth. Marc.
