Where are all of the BHID 300 praises??

I just bought one and read very little in the forums from users. I know they are out there, there are some diehards, but I just don't see much on this detector. I just got one, but don't get to the beach too often due to family responsibilities....hopefully soon I will have some success stories to share.

Bryan:
I'm a new owner of a the BID 300 also. I haven't used it much yet but have been using a Stingray 2 for the past 2 years and have done well with it. I like the BID but haven't been willing to
sell my Stingray yet. The BID just seems like more fun to use right now. Looks like it may be a deeper detector.

Percy, I hope you do well with the BHID 300. Be sure and post some comments on what you think and how it operates for you. I think I am just getting psyched out by reading about all of the other popular detectors. I have only been out once with mine, but hope to get out soon again. What state's coast do you hunt?

I don't have a BHID but have been considering one. I poked around online and found some information by searching for specific detector comparisons such as 'fisher cz vs BHID' and the like. Stuff does pop up, albeit not a whole lot.
It's interesting considering how long the BHID has been in production and how seldom one sees used ones on the market.
Keep us posted on your progress and thanks for posting!
Cheers

Will do. I just am unable to get out as much as I would like. Just received a Stavr 2.2 scoop, so I cannot wait.

I honestly believe that you don't see many used ones for sale because not many are out there in use, at least in my neck of the woods. According to some dealers I know, they don't seem to move. I wish I got to try one years ago when a hunting buddy briefly had one. As far as White's units, there are more Dual Fields being used out my way (Jersey shore). Mystery to me, as they are priced to sell and have White's support behind them.

Some have said that they don't balance well in mineralized sand. I did have what appeared to be a hard time balancing it at a NC beach. When I would move the coil up and down from the sand, I adjusted the GB and could not discern a big change as I adjusted it. I finally just did the best I could to get a consistant, steady tone. I was told by one experienced BHID user that if this occurs, just set the GB in the middle and hunt and it would be fine. Hmmm. Anyway, when I did the best I could, it seemed to operate fine and pick up signals, deep, just fine. I was confident that if a ring was under that coil, that I would find it in AM mode. Disc seems to lose alot of depth, but was much quieter and stable. Perhaps I should have adjusted my sensitivity down a hair too. Hopefully I will get to the beach within a month or so and give it another shot. Gold is a tough man's search, so can't expect to hit it the first time anyway. I would love to hear the experience of others out there.

I had one. To heavy for me. Did not like the big coil. Couldn't sell it fast enough and not cheep enough.

My below conversation with Whites may be why there are not many out there as some have said. I was very interested in a BHID 300 until the below conversation with Whites West Coast distributor . I purchased a CZ-21 instead after this conversation and some research and dis-reguarded the BHID 300 for my needs. I was disappointed because I like Whites products and have had very good luck with them over the years.

This is how the conversation went below,

I talked on the phone with the main distributor For White's west coast. I called White's advertised phone number West Coast distributer and asked about the BHID 300. I was thinking of adding a VLF water proof detector to the heard for salt water beach use. To my surprise they did not recommend it at all for the salt water mineralized type beaches like here in California period and made that very clear to me. They said it works great for Florida, Hawaii and less mineralized salt water beaches and fresh water beaches as that's what is was designed for. They highly suggested the White's Duel Field for California or West Coast salt water beaches they also suggested the MXT that I had or just sold worked better here on the West Coast beaches but it is not water proof, oh well that's what they said no fooling.( and the MXT is a single frequency unit ??). I also ask and said I have heard the BHID 300 is a scaled down DFX in a water proof case with out the meter and all the adjust ability features. They said yes it was based in so many words on that technology but still again made it clear he did not recommend the BHID 300 at all for West Coast beach use and said I would not be happy and suggested the White Duel Field to me again.

What area or beach's are you hunting?? If your on the West Coast beach's the above mentioned may be some interest to you, sounds like the BHID does not do as well in black sand or highly mineralized beach areas.

Happy Hunting All,
Bill G

Every find is a good find, some are just great!!!!!!! HH

I am in North Carolina and the beaches don't seem too bad. It will just take hitting the right beach and perseverance.....one day I will have pics of some gold!

I cant speak for all areas but Ive bounced some signals off of pennies etc at 16 inches in sand. A bit heavy but easy to use and well built.. Batteries last along time
