When you can't find a lot of GOLD....

you might just have to settle for a little gold with a little ice and a little silver. I hit the lake a little after daylight this morning after scarfing down a burger for breakfast, not my first choice but was the only place open that time of the morning. After rigging up the ATP, I sauntered up and down the beach a couple of times, just to refresh my ear for the ATP's song. Then I hit the water and started pulling up the usual suspects. Then I got this scratchy sad little signal and being I was in the water, I scooped it. Took me a bout 6 scoops before I got it out of the water, kept falling off the front of the scoop. Ahhhhhh....my favorite color...GOLD...but it's so small...but it glitters...excellent!! It's a nice little 1.6 gram 14k earring with some little ice in it...sweet!! In the pouch and head for the next target. More of the usual suspects then a small high tone, barely audible and after 6-8 scoops full of mud and gravel, it was mine!! A nice little silver double loop ring...don't know what else to call it!! A bit later and another jumpy signal and out comes a nice silver loop earring, pretty heavy too. So, not a bad 3 hrs., just wish I could have stayed longer, but chores to be done...sigh. Hopefully, this hunt will last me the week till I can get back on the hunt next weekend!!

Here's the loot right out of the water!!

After a bit of cleaning!!

I'm really loving the 6 x 9 on the GTP!! I thought I might lose the excellent gold features of DD, but the 6 x 9 does just fine on the gold...without the bottle cap dilemma.
C'mon July 4th weekend!!

Now if that had been a bracelet with real stones, you could take the summer off. Amazing how sensitive the ATP is to tiny gold too. And I agree with you....the concentric coils are the way to go.:smoke:

Why dont you eat better Big C D , Maybe a bologna samich with some texas pete squirted on it:rofl: Probly your hunger for the yellow stuff has you on the run. Its funny when i think about it , just inhaling a little food and getting to the hunt. I bet that scratchy sad signal made U smile . Was wondering if u look at the vdi alot BCD, and are you dunking the control box alot ? I probly know the answer to the dunk (yes).

Yep, pretty darned good on the small stuff in the water. What gets me are those danged split shot weights...fall right thru the scoop!!

Well, I usually do eat better, but with the heat the way it is in these parts, I opt for whatever I can get that early. I would much prefer some nice eggs with some hot salsa, a side of bacon and a couple of flour tortillas to sop it up with, but those joints don't open till later on. and yes on the dunkin', no on the VDI. VDI's don't matter in the water, if it signals, it gets scooped.

Great finds, congrats! I'm thinking about one of those scoops with the smaller holes. Seems easy to miss earrings with the larger holes.
