When it says it is but it isn't...

My friend PI-Joe found a "gold" bracelet a couple months ago it was heavy and it was deep and he found it with his Detector Pro HHer... He took it to his jeweler recently to get it cleaned and polished up a little and the jeweler tested it and its not gold even though it weighed in at 37 grams and is marked 14k... Its a shame people wear junk into the water lol...

Its probably brass GH... The jeweler is fine... I have a friend who was burned thinking they were buying a 14k chain and it turned out to be fake...

I found over a 3 oz. 30" silver neclace..stamped .925 ...when I cleaned it it was brass or copper

I call these mexican Gold and Silver...

Watches...("They also sell ROL-MEXes in Mexico"..$20.00)

Only finer pieces of jewelry have better clasps that are locking or a double clasp that will prevent it from falling off. You will also find links that are welded closed. This may be the case unscrupulous jewelry who will give you $5 for it, just to take it off your hands since it is no good anyways. I do not trust jewelers..........they are known to lie. Scratch away at a corner to see if the gold plate comes off.........if it remains shinny, then try another jeweler or better yet, get a good test kit!!

Bobbie... They acid tested it right in front of Joe and it didn't hold on any of the tests its a fake...

If the acid is old or contaminated it will test as fake.

Bobbie... I spoke with Joe tonight and he watched the metal vanish on the stone during the acid test... they tested for 14k and then 10k and it vanished both times its a fake, furthermore Joe polished up the bracelet and it tarnished in a week and gold doesn't do that... Just because it might have good clasps doesn't mean its gold and in this case its not. He took it to a couple jewelers and they all said it was a fake..

Okay, I feel its my duty to state this, GH, MARIO must be a fake too, please send to me and I will look after it for you, you can even send it COD on the postage, I am that kind of guy, I am here to help:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Mike:beers:

Aside from the markings, that is a lot of effort to put into a piece of junk jewelry with welded links and extra clasp............it must have come off of Canal St. in NYC!

Hi Craig
There was a period of jewellery making some years back, especially the heavy wrist chains, where they would mark the item correctly as gold on one link but all the other links would be plated.

Brian... I don't even think its plated I think its just brass.. Joe brought it with him to a job he worked on me with... even though its not gold its a great looking bracelet all polished up :)

wow, i checked out that site, Craig. i thought it was illegal to mark something 14k when it wasn't?
and the only address of anything on that site is in denver
