When is Fisher & Tek going to make a concentric coil for GB and G2?

First, I am a fan of concentric coils, preferring them for most of my detecting needs. When one isn't available for a model then I use a DD.

Second, the G2 and Gold Bug Pro, as Dave Johnson has stated, were designed for a more specific application, mainly gold nugget hunting, and also designed to be used with a Double-D coil, not a concentric design.

When I first evaluated, the G2 back last October, I was very curious as to how well it might work with the concentric coils. Since I also like the Teknetics Omega and Gamma and Delta, I had the round 8" concentric and elliptical 9

I also agree with you a nice mid size coil would be nice. I know the GB & G2 were meant to be gold machines, but they work great in iron infested park hunting. I was just thinking the concentric coils would work a lot better at disc. rusty bottle caps. Not much of a problem with the 5" DD but have trouble with the big DD coil. I also noticed this on my AT Pro stock coil. I put on a 6.5 X 9 concentric no problem disc. bottle caps new or rusty.

I had a quick run for another appointment and forget to close the though that while they were designed for Gold Nugget Hunting, they did have the Discriminate mode added and that makes them a multi-purpose unit.

They aren't what I would usually grab for typical day-to-day coin hunting at lost sites, but the 5" coil sure gets the job done in the trashiest areas. I find the Omega and Gamma and T2 to be better units to use for a 'typical' coin hunting task, but the G2/GB Pro would do better with a mid0sized coil. At least for me I know they would.

As for bottle caps and the generally annoying iron or magnetics type trash we encounter, I do prefer a concentric coil, but the DD's can work. I just use the 'Quick-Out' and 'EPR' techniques I have been for over 30 years now and I can usually classify a probable bottle cap or similar ferrous object. Looking at a detector sitting next to me by my computer with an 8" coil, and guessing what I would like to have, I am back to hoping an elliptical in something close to 4X7 comes along soon.

Since the concentrics are out that leaves us with only 2 coils to choose from for these models, making a functional, mid-size Double-D coil even more desirable.

Fingers are crossed!
