When hunting with the F75 what do you normally hear?

Especially, between targets. Mine seemes to keep up a constant chatter of clicks and pops. So it's hard to tell which scratchy noise is a good target. The unit GBs ~66, and I've tried:
Resetting to Factory settings
Changing frequencies
Changing earphones
Reducing the sensitivity (as low as 30)
Increasing descrim to max (65)
Even reducing descrim to zero (intuitively wrong, and it WAS)

Probably, even more worrisome is that targets may not be registering well enough to break through all the chatter. For example a 30.06 casing LAYING ON TOP OF THE GROUND not sounding off, even though descrim was well below brass.

Back to the initial question, what are people hearing as "normal" during a search?
Thanks in advance,

Mine is doing the something, I can change everything and you cant even hunt with it. Four or five places about thirty miles apart and still no good.Hope I don

I have two questions:

1. How did you ground balance ?

I worry about the 30.06 casing LAYING ON TOP OF THE GROUND not sounding off. Same happend to me with a quarter and the reason was that i thought i was ground balancing with fastgrab but later noticed the words "can't GB" on the display. If the words "can't GB" show up (hard to see, because small) the detector didn't GB and performance it close to zero. Make sure you have the words " pump coil to GB " while pumping the coil up and down to GB on the display.

You can overcome some ground noise by adjusting the GB manualy positive.
I like to use fastgrab first and than add 5 numbers.

2. Did you pick up some noice with the coil in the air ? (i do this test with DE mode, disc at 5 and sens at 60).
If you do that and you pick up noice it's something nearby with causes the detector to pick up interference.

Be careful with the JE mode since the high gain in more sensitive to targets, ground minerals AND interference.

A little ground noice is normal with the F75, but after a short time you'll now how a good target sounds. Bury a dime 6 inches down to learn the coin sound vs the ground noice.

Hope that helps.

Theres one Fisher wants right now. To make customers happy! I suggest a quick phone call and watch how easy it is for them to take care of you. I'll bet they even will cover the shipping!

Yes, it was GB'd, and those "Can't balance" warnings ARE small (lol)
I finally bailed and sent it back to the company. They did pay for UPS Ground to get it back, after I got a return authorization through the dealer. It's a long way from Penna to El Paso, but it should arrive today. My HOPE is that they will replace the thing, as I'll have enough trouble having confidence in even a new F75. To be clear, I LOVED the machine, when it worked, but unfortunately, that period was brief.
I'll post here when/if I hear from them.
Thanks,
Tagamet

I get the sense that my dealer has gotten nothing but resistence from his distributor. It may be my imagination. Maybe not. I certainly hope that you are correct and that they replace my machine vs repairing it, or worse sending a note that says "No problem with your machine, so here it is" and send it back to me because they can't "replicate the problem".
Time will tell.

Do you have a Phone number for Fisher's? After a week in transit, my F75 should arrive at the company tomorrow and I want to chat with them.
Thanks in advance,
