WHEN DO THE WINTER TIDES START ????

ferdware

New member
Hello to all,

I had read that when beach hunting there are two times of the year that are best.
Summer because it is constantly being replenished by beach goers.(of course)
The other was Winter because the tides start to strip away the beach uncovering new treasures at the same time throwing items back onto the beach.

Can anyone tell me if this is true about Winter and if so when do the Winter tides start?

I hunt the beach a few days a week and the past few trips to the beach have been terrible.

Thanks for any answers

Go on line and find a site that has the tides posted and look up your area, look at
the levels posted and find the ones with a _ sign in front of them, those will be the
best ones to hunt, second choice will be any of the normally low ones. Read as much
as you can find about the tides and you will be on the right track to start with.
TIP: look at a whole year to see when the _ tides occur and print those times out
and keep them handy!

Hunting winter beachs really works good also if you have a place where there is lotta history, like the Jersey Shores & Long Island...

here is a good site on winter beachs

I was just starting to come to some of the same conclusions he has, when the beaches here were unfortunately renourished.

Thanks for posting!!
