To avoid confusion perhaps we should set down some common definitions. I'll just throw out some descriptions of Bottle Cap types, and forum members can chime in on ones I've not listed, and how they feel about what I've listed.
Aluminum
Very Large Screw Caps--found on very large wine bottles.
Large Screw Caps--found on large wine bottles.
Small Screw Caps--found on things like small wine cooler bottles.
Thin Foil Pull Off Tops--Found on many common small plastic drink bottles.
Thick Aluminum Pull Off Tops--Found on things like Pringles cans, nut cans, 2 cycle motor oil.
Crimped Steel (need bottle opener to remove), common on Beer bottles
Old Type--These kind were usually painted and had a cork insert.
New Type--These can have foil inserts, also can be coated or bonded with other metals. Certain brands seem more problematic than others, & foil side up or down does make a difference!
Crimped Steel Twist Off type, common on newer Beer bottles
As above these can have foil inserts, also can be coated or bonded with other metals. Certain brands seem more problematic than others, & foil side up or down does make a difference!
Old Shampoo, Toothpaste, Hair Gel etc.
These are screw on type about half the diameter of a U.S. dime, made of I don't know what, maybe some sort of Pot Metal. They drive me crazy because I find lots of them and they have low conductivity. I keep hoping it's a gold medallion but most of the time it's these blasted things.
Feel free to add, comment or otherwise.
