When did the first meter come out?

I'm wondering which model Sovereign encouraged Minelab to design a meter or what I mean which was the first Sovereign to have a meter.

Minelab came out with a bar meter back in the early years of the Sovereign (after 1991)and think it was the original Sovereign and it was basic. Now This is where I think Sun Ray got its start and made a 180 meter for the Sovereign when I started using the Sovereign and help people understand the Sovereigns as we now had a readout that could tell us what we are hearing. It helped a lot of us learn the Sovereigns easier and was a great selling item for the Sovereign. They improved it 3 different times until the last one was the DTI 3 that had a lighted meter. There was other makers of the 180 meter after Sun Ray came out with theirs with some that had a battery in them to work and some for a lighted meter also. Joe Patrick made a analog meter some like and did sell a few of them and even Ron made a 180 meter out of a voltage meter that worked and was very reasonable priced after Sun Ray quite making theirs that helped many as I dont think anyone else makes a meter for the Sovereigns anymore as the Sovereigns are no longer being made . I and many others wish they still made the Sovereigns as once you got to know them and with the 180 meter they would be unbeatable for coin hunting. Now all we can do is find used Sovereigns and get lucky to find a good 180 meter.

Good Luck
Rick
