This is my 'Todays Finds'! They are not all in the dirt metal per se, but hey, you gonna hunt treasure or what?

I got up early and read the Forums, then hit the local schoolyard, empty cans all over the place signaling a sporting event from the day before!
Cans here are 10c each, so I scarfed up 21 of them..along the way I grabbed up this Avia hoodie, retails for @35.00...then I eyeballed this little bag inside of which was 9 fresh dimes!
As I bounced across the field, I swung the F70 hot and fast, sniping up clad, got a lot of Q's, @5 bucks worth of coins..hit the Kazoo midfield, as I was checking all signals looking for a gold chain, gold ring, silver chain, or silver ring...

Headed home around 10am, stopped at the store to cash in the cans, on the way home I spotted this chair sitting out along the road in the trash...I drove on by and got to thinking, "that's a rich mans place, and that might be leather"...so I impulsively mashed on the binders, turned around and went back! Glad I did! Its a 'Bradington Young, Jefferson Executive' swivel rocker! Retails for 1150.00! It was sort of sloppy in the base, but with a screwdriver and 5 minutes of work I had it fixed!

Anyway, not all valuable treasures are metal and under the dirt, a guy can pay off his rig and finance future hunts with just one good score like this chair. Come to think of it, I have not bought a pair of shoes, towel, lighter, sandals, fishing weight, knife, umbrella, folding chair, pop-up tent, thermos, cooler, jewelry for the Wife, in the past 4yrs of my career of detecting! A fellow just never knows whats out there for the picking, and having a detector gives a guy an excuse to go look!:detecting:

Yep! To top it all off, the Wife found a dime as she was cleaning it! She says she wants to keep this chair, but I'm gonna sell it to finance future hunts or more detecting gear, besides, I prefer to sit on a five gallon plastic bucket with a boat cushion on top, dual purpose rigs the both of them...all a guy can do with a big leather chair is make holsters out of it...

ps: I'll let her keep the dime she found, I'm not greedy

Looks like you are really taking this return on investment thing to a whole new level mud... I guess when you add it all up its kinda like you scored gold today .. how did you fit that chair in your car?

That chair is sweet! I'd want to keep it providing there is room for it. I sure do understand selling it to finance other items you want. Nice work.

Nice finds. The Kazoo looks like an inhaler.

Nice hunt Mud and a super find on the Bradington Young!

Well Mud, all good finds you have there and actually I think like you i.e. multi-purposing and "One man's trash is another man's treasure"!!!! I just hope you draw the line at dumpster diving pleeeezzzzz!!! and IF you do, don't let anyone know!

Hay mud, I am still crying. I can just see you doing a U - turn and trying to get that chair in your car. I hope you get a good price out of it... KEN

Aaah a true hunter!!!! I admit I would've grabbed that chair in a heart beat. I just picked up this find and crammed it into my work truck. 100+ yr old bubble front dresser free on side of road. My winter refurbish project. Actually started on it today. Great hunt mud and way to eye out a great score!

Thanks fellers for all your nice replies...I was a bit hesitant to post this kind of stuff on a 'metal detecting' site, but hey, we area all treasure hunters and half Pirates at heart.. Back in the day, I was known to pick up roadkill for pelts!...who can pass up on a nice 'yote, mink or fox?

Bootyhound, that danged chair slid right in the trunk headfirst, 'course, the base stuck out, but I lashed the whole mess down with a length of rope and made it home with no trouble...a guy never knows when he may need a length of rope, either to lash down a find, or use as a belt, whip, wick, or somesuch, so I generally have some handy..

That's a beauty of a dresser there Flanagan! Can you imagine what it would take for somebody to make that thing now a days from scratch? Good on ya mate!:clapping:
