Wheat Cent in One Minute

Out to a local park today, blue sky and cool breeze, perfect day.

Had researched the park on an old map At one end of it, they used to have a stop and "turn-around" area for a street trolley car. Folks must have been there.

Powered up the GTI2500 and got going. On only the fourth or fifth sweep, it gave a "copper" penny tone at two inches. Up came a 1911 Wheat Cent. That was in less than a minute.

In many years of detecting, that has got to be the quickest find I've ever had. Anyone would think that this is the easiest hobby -- just swing a coil a few times, get a coin, nice and easy, just like that.

Also, about ten feet away, up came a 1954D Wheat Cent. The rest of the morning was all clad, in about two hours of detecting. Still, a great day.

Good for you! It happens......not too often, but it does. There are probably a lot more old coins on that site. That GTI 2500 is quite capable of sniffing them out.

Nice find on the wheat pennies. When you find something good the first few minutes of detecting, it keeps you going no matter how many trash items you dig.
