Out to a local park today, blue sky and cool breeze, perfect day.
Had researched the park on an old map At one end of it, they used to have a stop and "turn-around" area for a street trolley car. Folks must have been there.
Powered up the GTI2500 and got going. On only the fourth or fifth sweep, it gave a "copper" penny tone at two inches. Up came a 1911 Wheat Cent. That was in less than a minute.
In many years of detecting, that has got to be the quickest find I've ever had. Anyone would think that this is the easiest hobby -- just swing a coil a few times, get a coin, nice and easy, just like that.
Also, about ten feet away, up came a 1954D Wheat Cent. The rest of the morning was all clad, in about two hours of detecting. Still, a great day.
