Well, I had set aside Thrusday to hunt after work & of course it poured rain. They talked about more storms coming so I didn't even think about hunting Friday after work until I saw the sun shining out the office window & figured, what the heck? I wanted to try the F75 again at the same French revolutionary campsite I got permission back on & found what I hoped was a soldier's brass ring as a DIV warm up. Thanks to Mr. Bill for letting me borrow one of his F75's while my prototype gets the software updates....
Anyhow, I said before I left that someone else who didn't even have permission had beaten me there....left holes open, trash next to 'em, etc. But, I figured lets see if he was any good or not, & he probably didn't have an F75 or was running disc mode. I know the spots been pounded for 30 years and to find 1 musketball is now considered a good day....all metal is a must. Everything left is 7" plus....
I choose all metal & was able to get the sensitivity up to 90. The ground phase reading was between 64-66. Not bad. There was a little chatter at this high a sensitivity, but you can easily lessen or silence that by turing the seperate threshold down. Cool feature for those who want a more silent search. Well, right where I choose to ground balance the F75, I got a loud signal in the high 50's I believe and out pops a dropped revolutionary musketball (here it is next to the ring found last time).

Hey, that was too easy!.....was I gonna find a bunch that other guy missed? Probaly not as he left holes eveywhere, so he dug something. But, I figured it was an excellent challenge for the F75 either way...
For the next hour I saw nothing but iron flashes on the screen & a couple shotgun shells. I even climbed into the woods, but saw only iron readings there too. I thought about leaving, but decided to try a spot along the sites edge I didn't get near before, & there were no open holes from the other fool. I got 2 more dropped musketballs that were jumpy 50's ID's but correct @ 8"....I knew I had to dig any "Iffy" ID's....
So, The next jumpy signal in the 20's in the same spot I didn't think much of. It was right inbeween where the 2 musketballs surfaced so I figured maybe a smaller or deeper one...maybe a flat button.
Nope, a shiney penny....OK, now I'm really cursing that guy thinking he buried a new zinc to bust me up!
Well, maybe not...that's not Lincoln....it's a womans head! When I grabbed it & flipped it over & saw the shield I knew I had my very first gold coin!

It's a British Half Sovereign I guess. But the date of 1876 was 100 years later...so what was it doing in with 2 musketballs? It was holed & was probably someones pendant. They say coins like this pop out when you least expect it & that sure did! Here's the other side....
A couple dings from the plow, but I'll take it
[attachment 53816 RevGold2.jpg]
I put the coin away & decided I had a little hotspot & would work it for a few more min.....Little did I know the next 2 signals were going to be coins too! What the heck is going on here? I came to find maybe a couple musketballs...now the next 2 signals right after the gold coin, 2 copper coins come out! Not that I'm complaining!A 1745 King George II copper lost by a soldier, & an 1822 Large Cent lost by who knows who later That's 3 nice coins in a row in the span of just 10 min!
I hunted that little hotspot hard, and I was able to eke out a couple more deep dropped musketballs, including a cut-in-half one that shows the knife mark. Often they made game pieces in camp. Also this silvered spoon that looks early.....

here's all the finds in my hand. Not bad for a couple hours after work huh!?
