I found these two items in the same hole, 7-8" deep in a local park on Memorial Day. They appear to be sterling silver but are not marked. I filed a deep notch into the back of the long piece and it shows no sign of being silver plated as the color is the same throughout. The oval piece weighs 17.76 grams and the other weighs 21.55 grams for a total weight of 39.31 grams. If sterling silver, the amount of silver in the two pieces would be equal to approximately 1 1/6 troy ounce. They are obviously broken off of a larger piece, perhaps a serving tray or platter, but do not fit together. They came out of the ground just as you see them; I only cleaned off the dirt under running water with a worn out soft toothbrush. What do you think the pieces are from?

Very interesting pieces. Guessing your guess is correct in being some sort of decorative pieces off of something.. Very neat though.
