Sorry to say I haven't been on here lately. Friday will be one year I have been laid up, but, am finally on the mend. Need to get healthy. SOOO much detecting to catch up on. Looks like lots of cool stuff has been recovered. Great job to all of you.

I have no clue as to what this might be. It was dug in an area that was used for a short time as a muster point for new recruits to the Civil War in 1861. There were houses on it in later years. A couple of CW relics, button and musket ball were dug from about the same depth, so, I have hopes it's that old, but, sure don't know. Any ideas? I would be thankful for any guesses. It's 2 3/8" long (61 mm) and 1 5/16" high (33 mm)and made of brass or copper. HH to all!

Looks like a leather or nylon strap would slid thur the clips on the back. Maybe it is just ornamental. Off a horse halter perhaps.
