What's Your Wheat Penny to Silver Coin Ratio?

Mine today was 13 wheat pennies to zero silver coins. I know if wheat pennies are there, there has to be silver coins there as well. Every time that I was about to call it a day, I'd find another wheat penny which made me search a little harder and longer. I'm in the right place. I guess I need to start rubbing my Genie again.:)

I was using the Cibola with the 8 inch coil with the discrimination set where foil caps just discriminate out. Full sensitively and tad negative on the ground balance.

13 Wheat Pennies - 1942, 1940, 1935, 1950, 1947, 1951, 1944, 1944, 1928, 1945, 1934, 1928, 1942

We both know you have the right location! My ratio is poor. Last year I only found 3 silvers and about 75 wheats. That poor ratio is my fault because I was hunting well known parks that have been hunted for years. The three silvers I found were in a beds of tabs and bottle caps. I am sure others had passed over them, but I found them because I went slow, overlapped my passes and turned my disc. up on the Silver uMax. It nailed them fairly easy. Just goes to show what you have been saying. Slow down!

i have 3 silvers and 11 wheat pennies since i started this hobby in april. found 2 silvers where there were no wheats and of course wheats and no silvers. earlier today i got 3 quarters, 4 dimes, 1 nickel and not one penny. other times i just find all pennies. so, who the hell knows tabs... hahahaha

I've been hunting a spot this year that has produced 38 wheat pennies and 10 silver coins. 3.8 to 1. Don't know if that would be my average over all the years I've been detecting but should be a fair representation.

This year, one silver quarter, about a dozen wheats. I don't go out to hunt them but they pop up now and than.

So far this year, I have found 5 silver coins ( all dimes) and 40 wheat cents, so my ratio would be 1:8

Tabman, I believe I read in another post of yours that you have found around 80 silver coins this year. At a 10 to 1 ratio, that would mean you would have found 800 wheat pennies. Was just wondering if you are any where near that number because that seems like an awful lot of wheat pennies. I don't know if I've found that many in 15 yrs. of detecting.

I normally don't find that many wheat pennies without finding some silver. Some days I'll find just as many silver coins as I do wheat pennies. So far this year, I have around 2/3rds of a pint jar of wheat pennies soaking in olive oil. Finding wheat pennies gets me pumped up.:) My silver count would be higher, but I got this thing about wanting to find gold rings, so I spend a lot of time digging trash that others pass over. The thing about "beep and dig' and using a low discrimination setting is that you don't know what it is until you dig it up. It could be gold, it could be silver or some kind of neat relic. Take away the chance of finding gold by using a high discrimination setting and there goes half of the fun for me.

You got that right about wheat pennies. When I find those, I am definately expecting silver to follow. Also, right on about finding gold rings. One 14k mens wedding band has more value than a whole roll of silver dimes.
I really enjoy your posts and advice. Just thankful that you are on the Tesoro forum.

so far I have found 3 silvers and about 50 wheats. None of my silver was american except a dime from a club hunt. ( hard to count that) I have hunted a site that I found a 1800s mexican real a chinese steel washer and a french floren. no USA coins. I also found a canadian dime at the lake that has silver content. I dont have good luck with silver coins. Im hoping this will change with my Sovereign. I am also a gold hunter so I dig a lot of holes. If I just looked for silver I might do better.
