Whats your name, where do you live, what do you hunt for?

Neil

Well-known member
I was reading some of the posts tonight here and Julien brought up something Ive wondered myself so here goes.

My name is Neil, I live in NJ by the ocean and hunt mostly ocean beaches, but also some fresh water lakes and streams and in the winter I hunt colonial spots in the woods. I still use the Sov occasionally but my main machine right now is an Explorer SE.

maybe make the forum a little more personal:beers:

My name is Matt. I live in NE PA and I hunt anywhere I can find old coins. This hobby is brand new to me this season. I use a Sov GT and a DFX- both with lots of different coils. I appreciate this site and have learned a lot from so many people. Thank you.

My name is Gary and I've been in this hobby off and on since 1976. I live in Minnesota and I hunt for old coins and my oldest coin is a 1853 half dime that I dug at a public park. I have alway's used one machine at a time and currently use a Sov. GT.
Good hunting, Gary

My name is John and I live in Angleton, Tx, 40 miles south of Houston. I started this hobby in 1976 and have accumalated alot of silver coins. I now mainly use the Xterra 705, Fisher F70 and Excal II 1000. The beach is about 25 minutes away and I will be there Tuesday after Memorial Day letting my Excal do what it likes to do best.....Here is a pic I snapped today, didn't hunt, must of been over 1000 at the beach today easily. Notice all the seashell on the sand, there were also low areas holding water with people playing in there for about a 2 mile stretch. HH John

Those questions are my business alone.
This site is for metal detecting and not nosy neighbors or bored folks.

That is heaven to the Excall. Big scoop and you should have a good day. Good Luck and HH. :minelab: I live in TN. mostly hunt parks and swimming areas for coins and jewelry with Excall 2 and Safari. Lots of old coal mining communities that have gone by the wayside that has some old coins and relics also. Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend. HH :minelab:

My name is Bill live in Cape Hatteras where they dint allow metal detecting. Have to travel 20 miles down the road to hunt Very frustrating to have as ocean in front of you and not be able to hunt . I like to hunt water and dirt and still get excited when I get a beeeep. Good hunting to all. I think this is a great human interest thread. It lets you know your fellow hunters.

Julien.

I live in Cartersville, GA

I hunt civil war relics mostly but I also love to hunt older lawns and am content hunting most anything, even clad if that is what is available. I just like detecting!

I'm Chuck, and live in Saint Francisville, Louisiana. I love to hunt for CW relics and have been doing so since 1993...

Neil,I usually hunt for coins. Most of the time I use a Sovereign.Enjoy hunting parks, but have hunted old abandoned WW 1 houses for a couple of years in the Air Force.Old school Treasure hunter started at 17 yrs old in 1970 learned a lot from the old timers along the way.I maintain a balance with metal detecting, family and friends are always a priority for my time and hobbies last.Ron is my real name and I'm from Michigan.

I am Rick from up here in a town of 40 people called Chaffee ND where it get -30 in the winter and 100-105 degrees in the summers. Been detecting since 1973 for old coins and gold jewelry and returning as many class ring as I can. My wife of 38 years is my best hunting partner and enjoys it as much as I do.

My name is Mike and I live in Washington State. I started detecting about 30 years ago prospecting for gold while living in Alaska. I mainly hunt for relics and coins in and around old lumber mills, ghost towns and logging camps. I also beach hunt around old dock sites and ferry landings.

Mine is Tom and I'm from near Cleveland. I hunt anything and everything (including deer and other tasty critters). Mainly I'm after old coins but like to ring hunt and rack up my clad totals as well. I enjoy the scouting process as much as I do the hunt. The dog and me take long hikes in the woods in various places around Ohio and look for signs of human activity from days gone by. Some times noticing that clue is more of a rush to me than digging an old coin. This could be anything from pottery shards, depressions, to marks way up on a tree that were caused by ropes or bobwire, along with many other signs I look for. Hunting the woods means much longer dry spells between good finds (weeks sometimes), but I enjoy nature and not having somebody looking over my shoulder.

Been detecting since the 90's and have owned, used, or compared the performance of just about every machine on the market. Don't like feeling like I'm not hunting with the best equipment. That's why I've settled on the GT and the only place to go from here would probably be a Etrac, 75LTD, or T2LTD, and that might not necessarily be a step up in depth or performance either.

A friend and I are almost always out every Saturday and I do more on a Sunday or weekday here and there. If anybody is near Cleveland and would like to hitch up with us on a hunt just drop me a PM. We hit old parks, house sites, woods, and just about any other place where we aren't going to get thrown in jail or given a ticket.

My name is Steve, I live in Wilmington North Carolina,I hunt for GOLD,JEWLERY,COINS,SUNGLASSES,GUNS,KNIVES,ARTIFACTS OF ANY KIND.:detecting:27 years and still digging

My name is Lloyd, I live in Farmington Hills MI, and I hope I strike it rich metal detecting and retire so I can metal detect for the rest of my days. I have been detecting off and on since I was 13 years old. Now I am 49 and still love this hobby. I used to have a box full of silver coins and other cool stuff. After my the divorce from my first wife, my kids probably spent my treasure on bubble gum and candy. I started metal detecting again this year, 2010, after 10 years of not having a detector. My last good detector 10 years ago was a Minelab Musketeer Advantage Pro. Now I have a 10 year old Sovereign XS-2 which works great. I modded the shaft to make this similar to the Sovereign GT. Anyway, good hunting!!!

Hunting Type
I am mostly into relic hunting but don't mind finding an old coin here and there. I am really hoping to get down south and hunt for some Civil War relics and I'm also hoping to get overseas sometime soon and look for some REALLY old stuff.
I'm 35 now and started metal detecting when I was around 10yrs old with an old Radio Shack model. I didn't seriously get into it though until about 5yrs ago.
I moderate for another detecting forum and try to get out whenever I can to scoop up those relics.

I'd really like to get into beach hunting a bit as well since I live in California near the coast but haven't gotten off my butt yet to get 'er done!

Hi Everyone, my name is Mike and I live at Sylvan Lake, Alberta I mainly hunt the fresh water for rings & coins but get away a couple times each year to warmer climates when its -35 here to enjoy the salt water beachs. I have been addicted to this hobby since 1976 when I bought my 1st detector coming home from my honeymoon. I am still married to my best friend, even if she thinks I'm crazy to do this hobby :)

Great thread:thumbup:
